Character profiles

Since I'm basing my market and characters on the Camden market alternative style, I thought over the stereotypes typically seen there. I thought up these styles:

  • rocker
  • metal head
  • punk
  • hippie
  • urban
  • raver
  • rasta
I've gone with a female punk character, and a male rasta/urban kind of character. I want to stylize these if possible, as in being pushed to the top, similar to a caricature where distinctive features are made extreme. Here are some of my thoughts surrounding the characters looks:

Woman: white complexion, Masculine, mohawk(mohecan), piercings, tattoos, torn jeans, big black boots, tank top, camouflaged clothing, studs/spikes, random accessories, menacing, strong.

Man: dark skin, dreadlocks, baggy clothes, hoody, relaxed, cheery.

I'll keep developing the ideas, they won't change that much, but I can continue to add things to the models like accessories, or slight change in mood etc. The basic idea I have for the two animations is that the woman will see someone steal clothing, and run after the thief, and the man will be approached by an old friend who he hasnt seen in some time, or do a simple sale. I would also like to include a scene with a character haggling (as its fairly typical at Camden) but I havent decided which one yet. Ideas for items on sale are also variable depending on what I model in the scene, but I imagine the woman selling clothing like boots, t-shirts, jeans etc, and the man at one of those stalls selling pipes, bongs, assorted smoking tools, jewellery etc.

Hi there, welcome to my new blog, which I'm going to be using to journalise my progress, keep on track, and generally show off work and ideas for the module Character Animation. The topic given this year, is 'market traders' and as its fairly open to anything so long as its market related, I originally decided to go with a medieval/fantasy theme, but have changed the idea to the style of Camden Market.

I've designed the two main characters, and have been modeling them in 3d max, using photo references and original sketches/designs. I will update later with character profiles, and some signs of progress in the models.
